TOURIST VISA

As a tourist, visitors to Aruba can stay on the island for 30 days. A tourist visa can be extended for up to 180 days while on the island. So, if you intend to stay in Aruba for less than three months, a tourist visa should suffice. Citizens of most countries will need to apply for a residency permit if they want to stay longer and move to Aruba, with the exception of citizens of the Netherlands, Curacao, Bonaire, St Maarten, St Eustatius, and Saba, who can apply for a declaration exempting them from the requirement for a permit.

RESIDENCY PERMIT

Residency permits are valid for one year and are renewable annually after that. Applicants should submit an application to the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services of Aruba (DIMAS).

To be eligible for residency an applicant must meet certain requirements such as having family ties to Aruba. Buying property in Aruba may entitle you to a Residence Permit which is valid for one year and is renewable annually after that.

Applicants aged 55 and over with a guaranteed pension income can apply for residency on the basis of being “retired with guaranteed income”, while individuals aged 18 and over with a demonstrable income of at least AFL 100,000 per year from an asset, a bank balance or investments can apply for residency on the basis of being “retired or interest-rate earner without guaranteed income”.
